Convicting the innocent

Discrimination towards blacks was so bad through out history that even in the past century innocent ones were convicted and hanged for crimes they did not commit. Even small children sometimes witnessed the injustice of the trials that took place. Two children in particular, Scout and Jem Finch watched their own father defend a black man who was wrongly accused and convicted of rape on a white girl. The story takes place in 1936 where these three begin.
Throughout the beggining Scout and Jem are trying to lure out Boo Radley and are learning new things about the town they live in. With this they learn how most people act towards blacks, and their fathers continuly teachs them what is right and wrong. They learn about the Cunninghams being poor, the Ewells which are lazy and are convicting Tom Robinson, and their own familys past.
What happens in the end is that the trial for Tom takes place and he is falsely accused guilty. The trial is moved to a higher court while Tom is in prison, but he commits suicide since he loose's hope in Atticus Finch. After the first trial though Mr. Ewell is extremly mad at Atticus for what he said and threatins to kill him several times. He tries to get his revenge by trying to kill his daughter Scout, but Jem and Boo both stop him in the end.
In the end Atticus said he saw that things were finally starting to change for the attitudes towards blacks, but Jem is hurt and both Mr. Ewell and Tom are dead. With all of this that has happend, Scout decides she actually wants to be a lady, and Jem wants to be a lawyer or a football player.

Joyful and depressing bells

Tinkle tinkle tinkle goes the merry bells, bells of alarms make clangs and crashs, and bells of death has a more melancholy menace of a tone. Edgar Allen Poe's "The Bells" tells of the happy and depressing times that bells put people through. The four different type's of bells each have their own characteristics: sleigh bells, wedding bells, fire bells, and death bells.
The happiness of the sleigh bells brings a thought of the bells on christmas day, and waking up to open the gifts and merriment of family and friends. The wedding bells has a more mature set of joy where two people join and spend the rest of their lives together. However both bells tell of two great joys that happens everyones life.
The harsh sound of fire bells does not sound that someone has lost their life, but rather they have lost they're home and personal possesions. The bells of death are nothing but pure terror that the person who may have died could have been your husband, child, wife, or friend. Neither bell has even a pulse of happiness that could lift you spirits.
I can personally relate to the sleigh bells because my family does celebrate Christmas, as for the death bells, i have heard them when my great grandpa died.
There are more bells than just these four, but these are the most common that show the two sides of what bells can tell. Even though Edgar only tells of four types, he still tells much about each of them and what they signal

2011 Earthquake on Japan

The death toll for Japan has counted over 10,000 with an 8.9 on the richter scale which hit at 2:46pm, about 250 miles from Tokyo. It was a horrible combination of the earthquake, a tsunami, nuclear power plants failing and the fact that it was winter when this all happened. After this many nations all rushed to aid Japan, but fortunatly Japan was very prepared for the earthquake.
All but the fact that Japan was in winter was a result from the earthquake that hit. The earthquake that hit was an 8.9 as i said earlier, but for the next 24 hours there would be over 100 aftershocks. The tsunami hit Japan with with waves that were 0.5 meters high to 10 meters high. The Nuclear and Idustrial Safety Agency(NISA) shut down at least 11 nuclear power plants, and they still had to relieve the cooling systems by releasing some radioactive vapor. With winter in affect, and thousands of citizens with no homes, they had thousands dying from hypothermia.
After the earthquake Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev issued Russia's Emergencies Ministry to gear up and go assist Japan with the aftermath. Washington sent to planes which formed the US Agency for International Disasters(USAID) that included 150 rescuers and specially-trained dogs. Fifteen Chinese rescuers possesing a vast experience of work in quake-stricken areas assisted Japan also. Another group consisted of 40 Germans and 25 Swiss rescuers, and sniffer dogs. Even though Japan had widespread damage resulting from the earthquake and tsunami, authorities response was quick and managed to avert a more serious course of disaster.
Now with all of this that has happened to Japan it is clear that the earthquake has affected them in a devistating manner, and continues to today. Although, with the help of Russia, China, Germany, Switzerland, the US, and many more they will continue to recover back to the nation they once were, and maybe more.
